For immediate release
Saint John, NB — The YMCA must delay its re-opening until at least Friday, June 5, 2020, which includes the resumption of Membership, Fitness, and Aquatics programs at the Saint John Regional Y on Churchill Boulevard. This delay follows the official announcement made by the Government of New Brunswick (GNB) on May 28 that the province’s transition to the yellow phase of the Recovery Plan has been postponed by one week in light of the new cases of COVID-19 in the Campbellton/Zone 5 Region.
“Although the delay in re-opening our Y to the community is disappointing to our members and staff,” said Shilo Boucher, President and CEO of the YMCA of Greater Saint John, “we are thankful for the guidance of the Premier. Our first priority is the health and safety of everyone we serve.”
The Y hopes to re-open on June 5 but must follow the direction of the government as the situation develops and will be set to resume operations when it is safe to do so.
“As a charity that serves thousands of people, we are thankful for the ongoing support through donations and volunteers giving their time
Please continue to follow the YMCA online and on social media to receive the most up-to-date information on the re-opening.
