Saint John, NB—The YMCA of Greater Saint John is thrilled to announce that it broke fundraising records at its annual Red Triangle Award Gala, raising $110,000 from the Saint John community.   Funds raised will support of the YMCA’s Strong Kids campaign, which ensures everyone has access to Y programs.

Now in its 27th year, the Red Triangle Award celebrates the personal leadership and commitment of two people who exemplify the Y’s mission of community service. Before a sellout crowd, the 2017 Red Triangle Award was presented to Arthur Irving in recognition of his lifelong philanthropic commitment to business, people and the environment in greater Saint John. John Fitzpatrick received the 2017 Leader to Watch Award in recognition of his work as a volunteer and philanthropist with a number of Saint John arts, education and sports organizations.

“People in our region are generous and they have a strong commitment to making life better for everyone in our community. Tonight’s fundraising amount proves that,” said YMCA president and CEO Shilo Boucher. “I also want to congratulate Arthur Irving and John Fitzpatrick for their continuing work on behalf of the YMCA and other community organizations. It is inspiring to work with volunteers like them who are so passionate about the region and helping people.”

Since its inception, the Red Triangle Award has recognized 33 Red Triangle recipients and 12 Leaders to Watch. The YMCA Strong Kids annual fundraising campaign provides access to YMCA programs that gives kids, youth, adults, seniors and families the opportunities they need to reach their potential and live healthier, happier lives.
