YMCA of Greater Saint John Announces temporary closure of facility and programs.

As of, Monday, March 16 at 6:00PM the YMCA of Greater Saint John is taking a necessary step to temporarily close all facilities in response to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.
This includes:
  • Saint John Regional Y
  • Irving Oil Field House
  • ROTHESAY Hive Age Friendly Community Centre
  • All Child Care and After School Locations

The closures are in compliance with recommendations by the Province of New Brunswick’s Minister of Health to aggressively manage physical distancing in public places to prevent community spread.
All YMCA of Greater Saint John facilities are closed to the public, and all rentals and recreation-related programs and services are cancelled. Our Child Care and After School Program centres within these facilities are also closed.

No further payments for programs or services will be taken until the YMCA of Greater Saint John resumes services.

The YMCA of Greater Saint John exists to help create healthy communities. This temporary closure is a precautionary step to ensure our communities stay healthy.

This closure is not taken lightly, as it directly affects over 20,000 people who use our services from Sussex to Charlotte County; members, program and Child Care participants, Newcomer Connections clients, plus our many staff and volunteers. As a ‘people first’ organization, we will be supporting our teams through this transition period. Please know that the YMCA of Greater Saint John considers this closure the best way we can serve the community at this point during this global crisis.

We will be using our website and social media channels, and mobile app for updates and, when the time comes, to deliver a reopening timeline.

The YMCA of Greater Saint John will continue to serve its communities in any way that we possibly can, guided by our core values of honesty, inclusiveness, respect, responsibility and caring. As a registered charitable organization the Y relies on your donations to ensure no one in the community is turned away from partaking in Y services due to financial reasons, our staff will be working remotely and will still be happy to accept your donations through the mail and our website. Without You there would be no Y.
