Rothesay’s New Age-Friendly Centre Teams up with YMCA

[Rothesay, New Brunswick]– The Rothesay Hive will be a gathering place to nurture the health and well-being of older adults through a hub of activities that focus on socialization, connection, health and wellness, intergenerational programming, lifelong learning and outreach.

The Y is excited for the opportunity to collaborate with the Town of Rothesay’s Hive Advisory Committee to operate the Rothesay Hive, through the delivery of quality programs and services.

“At the Y, we know that by working with others, we find new and innovative ways to building healthier communities,” explained Shilo Boucher, President and CEO at the YMCA of Greater Saint John. “We are thrilled to work with the Town of Rothesay and continue to foster an age-friendly community, while sharing resources with each other to provide high quality programs.”

This new partnership will continue to foster an age-friendly culture in the Town of Rothesay and expand into new program areas that support underserved populations, while addressing critical health issues.

“We feel it is the perfect opportunity to work with the Y to ensure the success of the Rothesay Hive,” said Nancy Grant, Mayor, Town of Rothesay. “The Y is known for quality program delivery for all ages. This partnership will offer a lot of value to future Rothesay Hive members with links to the Saint John Regional Y, as well as the new Field House.”

The Y is currently recruiting volunteers and will be hiring a Coordinator for the Rothesay Hive in the coming weeks.
