Our Y declares its pledge to reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples. We acknowledge and respect that our programs, services, and community facilities are on the traditional territory of the Passamaquoddy, Wolastoqiyik/Maliseet, and Mi’kmaq nations. Our Y is aware of the impact that colonial actions, including residential schools, have had on our Indigenous Peoples, and we remain committed to understanding past injustices and will continue to move forward for a better future.

We have big news: the Saint John Regional Y is reopening on Monday, June 8! Following the Government of New Brunswick's announcement that the province will be proceding to the next level of the COVID-19 Recovery Plan's Yellow Phase on June 4, we are thrilled to announce that we are among the many other organizations within the province that may reopen to our community — albeit with measures in place to protect our members.
The YMCA must delay its re-opening until at least Friday, June 5, 2020, which includes the resumption of Membership, Fitness, and Aquatics programs at the Saint John Regional Y on Churchill Boulevard. This delay follows the official announcement made by the Government of New Brunswick (GNB) on May 28 that the province’s transition to the yellow phase of the Recovery Plan has been postponed by one week in light of the new cases of COVID-19 in the Campbellton/Zone 5 Region.
The YMCA of Greater Saint John is thrilled to announce the start of its next phase of reopening, which is slated to begin on May 29, 2020 with the resumption of Membership, Fitness, and Aquatics programs at the Regional YMCA on Churchill Boulevard in Saint John. The Y’s decision to reopen its doors and gradually resume operations followed the Government of New Brunswick officially announcing the progression from the orange to the yellow phase of the provincial COVID-19 Recovery Plan on May 22.
The YMCA of Greater Saint John announces the phased re-opening of its facilities and programming starting May 19, 2020. The Y is taking its first steps to re-open after the eight-week temporary closure of all its facilities in response to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.
The YMCA of Greater Saint John, in collaboration with YMCA Canada, has launched YMCA at Home as a free virtual activity and wellness platform in response to country-wide facility closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This resource, which is available now, connects users of all ages and fitness levels to classes, children’s programming, and personal wellness resources in the comfort and safety of their homes.
The YMCA and United Way of Greater Saint John have partnered to launch the Y Home Delivery Service to serve members of the local community who lack the means to obtain critical supplies during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Y's large base of staff and volunteers will coordinate the free curbside delivery and pick-up of essential items for vulnerable persons. The program launched on Monday, April 20, and is currently being offered to residents of the Y's service area, which stretches from St. Stephen to Sussex.
