Language Programs

LINC (Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada)
At Newcomer Connections, we offer the Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) program. This is a government funded program of English language classes for Permanent Residents who are 18 years of age or older. In these classes, you can improve your English and you can learn about Canadian culture.
We use the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) and Portfolio Based Learning Assessments (PBLA) as standards to teach and test language progress. These benchmarks and assessments methodologies are used across Canada. We offer classes for CLB 1-8.
Before starting LINC, you must make an appointment for the CLB Placement Test. Once you have completed the test, the Language Program Advisor will place you on the waiting list for the appropriate level English class based on your CLB Placement Test results. You will be contacted when a space becomes available in that class. If you are unable to attend LINC class in person, Monday to Friday, you may be eligible for Online LINC courses after your CLB Placement Test.
